Dave Ramsey Visits Business Students to Educate on Finances

Personal finance educator and businessman Dave Ramsey spoke at the School of Business’ Center for Financial Literacy (CFL) on Wednesday, Sept. 29 after delivering a message at Convocation earlier that morning.

The School of Business hosted Ramsey at 1 p.m. for a Q&A session in the Towns Auditorium that was open for all School of Business students to attend.

According to Liberty News, financial coaches, who are students from the CFL, asked Ramsey questions about investing, common mistakes people make after graduating and building and passing on a financial legacy. Students also asked questions on the topics of time management, family and character growth.

“Many of our students have been impacted either directly or indirectly by Dave Ramsey’s work to coach families into financial freedom,” Executive Director for Financial Literary Center Stacie Rhodes said. “To have the opportunity to engage with him and hear his personal challenge to these [students] proved to be a powerful moment.”

According to ramseysolutions.com, Ramsey’s influence in the financial world has helped people take control of their money, gain wealth and improve their lives. Ramsey himself serves as an example as he battled his way out of bankruptcy after amassing millions of dollars in debt. This setback ultimately pushed Ramsey to want to change the money culture that many people often get swept into.

“We are so thankful for the foundation Mr. Ramsey and team have laid in discussing how to defy cultural norms and pursue biblical approach to finances,” Rhodes said.

The CFL offers biblically-based financial training to Liberty faculty, students and staff. Resources include peer financial coaching, the Simply Money blog, financial courses, free CFL calculators, financial planning degrees, workshops and more.
