Sodexo offers produce and fall favorites at Fall Harvest Event

Autumn.  A cozy time of year where students gaze at the colored leaves falling to the ground, while sipping warm apple cider.

It’s the time that everyone loves. The days get shorter and nights are full of bonfires, brisk walks and spirited football games.

This season, Liberty students gathered together at the Fall Harvest, hosted by Sodexo, to celebrate the new time of year. Cornhole boards, pumpkin painting stations, and fun music filled the academic lawn as students participated in their favorite fall-themed activities. Tables with straw baskets lined the walkway, filled to the brim with fresh produce like potatoes, carrots and even homemade jams. Sodexo employees handed out free samples of the season’s best recipes including white chicken chili and pumpkin bread.

The crisp air and the cool temperature made for a perfect fall evening. Girls at the table painting pumpkins laughed and smiled as their pumpkins turned into colorful masterpieces.

But this event didn’t just attract students. Families with younger children also enjoyed the experience. Parents snapped pictures of their kids holding mini pumpkins while they munched on candy corn.

And it definitely was. Smiles covered the faces of everyone on the lawn. The infectious joy spread as students engrossed in their studies began to trek down the Montview steps to join in on the fun.

Two students explained their favorite parts about fall and how they heard of
the event.

“I just love fall because of how pretty the leaves look as they’re in between stages of changing colors,” Marina Iodice, a sophomore, said. “Even though I’m not good at painting, this is still really fun.”

Sophomore Daniel Li, said that he found out about the Fall Harvest through an email sent by the Resident Director.

“I didn’t think I wanted to go, but then I thought maybe I should go and see what it’s all about,” Li said.

The event was listed in the weekly newsletter emailed to students and was also posted on the university events page. The Fall Festival is one of many events Sodexo will host this year, as they try to engage students and provide them a break from studying.

Students interested in learning more about what Sodexo has to offer this semester can follow them on social media @libertydining along with checking the Liberty official calendar.
