OBITUARY – Krista Buchanan

Liberty University alumna Krista Buchanan died in a fatal plane accident July 17 in Mesa, Arizona.

 

Buchanan, who was known by her maiden name Evers during her time at Liberty, graduated with a bachelor’s degree in advertising and public relations in 2016.

 

According to the Mesa police department, Buchanan and pilot Alan Ram were found dead on scene after the single-engine plane crashed due to an electrical issue.

 

The Arizona Republic Newspaper reported that the aircraft crashed and went up in flames on Longbow Golf Course.

 

Buchanan worked as a secretary for Proactive Training Solutions, a car salesmanship training company owned by Ram.

 

Buchanan and Ram were flying to Orange County, California for a company event.

 

While at Liberty, Buchanan served on the executive team of Lambda Pi Eta and managed social media pages for the digital media honor society.

 

In the spring of 2016, she received the 2015-16 Outstanding Academic Achievement DMCA Award.

 

Department of Digital Media Journalism professor Amy Bonebright described Buchanan as a bright, hardworking student who contributed greatly to the digital media honor society in a post by the Liberty Champion Facebook page.

 

Buchanan is survived by her husband, who she married in July of 2016 shortly after her graduation.
