RSD Framework

The process of introducing undergraduate students to research and scholarship through research-oriented courses enhances student learning. This introduction will help Liberty University students value the need for generating knowledge as well as understanding and demonstrating various facets of skills needed in the research process.

The Research Skill Development (RSD) framework is a research-focused curriculum framework found in the literature that provides insight into the knowledge and skills needed to design and/or conduct research (Willison & O’Regan, 2007).

In alignment with Liberty’s QEP student learning outcome (SLO) #3, the RSD Framework/Rubric acts as a guideline for the research-intensive course content and as a measure of success of student achievement in designing a research project or proposal. Student acquisition of SLO #3 will be measured by the following rubrics based on the RSD framework.
