When does registration open and close for Homecoming 2020?
Online registration is currently open and closes on Oct 8 at noon. Anyone wishing to register after the online deadline may do so in person at Check In.
When do I need to register by?
ASAP. To ensure ticket availability for events you want to attend while on campus, we recommend registering as soon as possible.
Who can register?
Events are open to all current students, faculty, staff, alumni, friends and family. However, you must be a Liberty alumni to register for Homecoming weekend in order to get discounts and access to facilities on campus. Alumni are able to add guests to their registration that have no Liberty affiliation, but must be immediate family members. We encourage all Alumni to bring their family to enjoy campus for the weekend.
Can I wait to register at check in?
We suggest you register in advance to take full opportunity of the weekend’s events, though registration will be available to those who need to on site. In order to speed up the check in process and get first access to available tickets to events, you should register as soon as possible. We cannot guarantee available tickets or check in gear (i.e. t-shirt, water bottles, etc.) to those who register on site. Any items still available that weekend will be first come, first served.
Are there any incentives for registering in advance?
Yes! In order to guarantee your Homecoming branded t-shirt you must register by September 4. Registering early will also ensure that you can get the best tickets available for Flames Football, theater, hockey, etc. at the cheapest rate and before they sell out!
Can I change my t-shirt size?
Yes, you can change your t-shirt size until our guaranteed shirt deadline of September 4 by emailing email@example.com with your name, registration ID and new t-shirt size. You will receive an email back once your registration has been updated. Anyone needing to change their size after this date will need to request so in person at Check In, as it will be first come, first served based on remaining availability. We will not accept or track any emails regarding t-shirt changes after September 4.
Do I need to check in?
Yes, in order to receive your Homecoming badge for access to various facilities, the Alumni Tailgate, and other various events, you will need to check in yourself (and your family/guests) when you arrive on campus.
Can someone check in for me?
Unfortunately, no. In order to speed up the check in process for each guest, you must check in yourself and your group. The only person able to pick up multiple badges is those who registered as a group.
When and where is check in?
Check In will take place in the LaHaye Event Space on Friday from 9 AM – 8 PM and Saturday from 9 AM – 3 PM. More details will be emailed to guests one week out from the event.
Where will I park to check in?
Parking will be available in the Tilley Parking Lot, on the side of the LaHaye Event Space for guests checking in. Parking is limited to 30 min. per guest to accommodate all guests during Check In. Once you check in, you may park at the East Campus Parking Garage and shuttle or walk back to main campus.
Are there any incentives for checking in?
Yes! Check In is where you will receive your Homecoming branded t-shirt, tote, and badge to get you into various facilities and events (one tote per group, each member of the group will receive a t-shirt and badge). You are required to check in during the hours listed to receive these items.
Events / Tickets / General Info
How do I purchase tickets to events?
Once you register, you will receive an email confirmation with a link and discount code to purchase your tickets. If you do not receive an email after you check in, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. Scaremare tickets can be purchased at check in (recommended) or using your Homecoming badge on site at Scaremare.
When can I expect my tickets for the events that I purchase?
The Liberty University Ticket Office will email out tickets as a PDF/mobile delivery option in late August or early September once seating capacity and seat locations have been verified for each event. Tickets will be sat based on order date and time so we highly suggest purchasing in advance to lock in your spot.
How soon should I purchase event tickets after registering?
A ticket link will be emailed to you after you register for Homecoming, so we suggest you purchase tickets immediately. This will ensure you get the best seats and tickets available for all events at the cheapest rate and before they sell out. Some events (like theater) have limited alumni ticket capacity and once that limit has been reached, Alumni will be required to purchase tickets at the general public rate.

Where can I park on campus?
All guests are encouraged to park in the new parking garage on East Campus, where shuttles will run each day Friday – Sunday. You can also take the East Campus walking tunnel from the garage to main campus. For Saturday, please see the football parking map here for General Parking or see the question below regarding football parking. To see the location of all parking lots on campus, please use our digital campus map. Football parking will differ from the map provided.
Can I purchase a parking pass for the weekend or during the football game?
While we do not have passes for the entire weekend, those wishing for closer parking during Flames Football on Saturday may purchase a parking pass for Doc’s Diner lot across from the stadium for $25 here (limited availability). This parking pass will be good for all day Saturday, not just during the football game. For a full map of all football parking and tailgate locations, please see details here.
Do I need to purchase tickets to the Alumni Tailgate?
No, but everyone in your group must have a ticket to Flames Football and you will all be required to show your Homecoming badge to enter the tailgate. All football tickets must be purchased in advance and presented with your badge at the entrance to the tailgate within FanFest.
What events do you recommend on campus?
There are many events in our weekend schedule to offer unique and diverse opportunities for all of alumni, students, faculty, and staff. We encourage each of our guests to take a look at all opportunities available ahead of time so you can make the most of your weekend on campus. Some big events include the bonfire, carnival, and hockey on Friday or Flames Football and the parade on Saturday. All our events are kid friendly!
Is anything changing due to COVID-19?
Yes, Student Activities is committed to bringing the best and most safe events possible to our campus. Please visit our Event Sanitary Procedures page to view ways we are changing our event processes. We are adjusting our sanitary procedures and adhering to any crowd limitations issued by the State of Virginia for Homecoming weekend as well. We will consistently monitor specific guidelines and recommendations from the university (updates here), our government (updates here), and the CDC to make all necessary adjustments in late September. In an effort to communicate the most accurate information and make the safest decision possible, all changes and guidelines for this event specifically will be posted on the Homecoming page the week of the event. If no additional details are listed on the Homecoming page, we will be adhering to our standard sanitary procedures guidelines as listed above.
The aforementioned procedures and changes apply to all Student Activities events, including: Check In and Registration, Carnival, Bonfire, Parade, and the Alumni Tailgate.
Please note: each department on campus may have procedures for increasing or adjusting sanitary processes that may differ from Student Activities policies. As a university, we stand united in providing the safest events possible, as requested by health officials and our administration. These procedures may be different based on various aspects of the event (i.e. food regulations, crowd size, etc.), though we will all do our part in tackling this together.
I’m a student, faculty or staff, can I still attend Homecoming?
Our Homecoming events are open to students, faculty, and staff, however, only alumni are able to register for Homecoming gear and attend the Alumni Tailgate. Faculty and staff who are alumni are encouraged to register in order to get discounted tickets and customized Homecoming gear.
Where should we stay in Lynchburg?
If you are looking to be close to all the action on campus, we recommend staying at the Fairfield Inn and Suites Liberty University. To experience something new and unique, downtown offers three exceptional hotel opportunities including, The Virginian, Lynchburg Grand Hotel, and the Craddock Terry. You can view a list of Lynchburg hotels here, and we recommend booking these as early as possible as they can fill up quickly.
Where should we eat?
There are many great dining options on campus we recommend checking out on both main and north campus. For a full list, visit Sodexo’s page for what’s available now. The Carnival will have food truck options on Friday, and game day there are ample opportunities – the Alumni Tailgate will have food for free for anyone who presents their Homecoming badge (must have checked in prior to the Tailgate) and Flames Football concession stands will be operational during the game. What do you recommend doing while in town?
First, we recommend taking advantage of all campus has to offer and the various expansions and enhancements at each of our academic buildings and recreational facilities. You won’t want to miss our featured events like Flames Football, the carnival, parade, and more! Tours and facility open houses can be found in our weekend schedule as well.
