Philbrick reserve high point champion at Virginia Tech show

Sarah Philbrick, a freshman on Liberty University's equestrian team, was named the reserve high point rider with a seven-point performance in intermediate on the flat at Saturday's Hunt Seat show, hosted by Virginia Tech.

Philbrick's performance led the Lady Flames to a fourth-place finish out of 11 teams with 29 points, behind the host Hokies, the overall winner with 42 points. Wake Forest and Elon tied for second with 31 points.
The Lady Flames now sit in sixth place in the Region 5 standings, behind the first-place Hokies, Averett, High Point, Wake Forest, and Elon.
Sophomore Elizabeth Chenelle qualified for the Feb. 28-March 1 IHSA Region 5 competition at Averett University with her third straight five-point score in Class 6, intermediate on the flat.
Meanwhile, junior Jordyn Tawney had a four-point total to move up a level from beginning to advanced walk, trot, canter.
While its Hunt Seat team has no other events scheduled before regionals, Liberty's Western riding team will be in action Jan. 31-Feb. 1 in a show hosted by Campbell (N.C.) University.
