November 4, 2018 | Monsey, N.Y.
Sophomore Angela Bosher placed first in her Novice Freeskate on Sunday after junior Christa Lesher finished third in Saturday's Pre-Preliminary competition to lead Liberty University's figure skating team in its Eastern Sectionals season debut, the Violet Ice Classic hosted by New York University at the Skate-O-Rama in Monsey, N.Y.
Overall, the Lady Flames placed eighth out of 31 teams in their section with 65 points. The top four teams were Delaware (169 points), Boston (152), Dartmouth (130.5), and Sacred Heart (119).
"We have a few kinks to work out and more starts to fill before the next competition (Feb. 1-3) at MIT," said Liberty Head Coach Dawn Harter, who expects an additional six skaters to join the team for the spring semester. "I am certain that can be accomplished with the additional skaters competing for the team allowing us to fill all 30 starts. We remain strong and courageous and we will rise."
