DII women set for first road trip after dueling with Delaware

Lady Flames Head Coach Sara Niemi provided a season update on her players' progress during this interview with Club Sports Video Coordinator Gabe Henderson.
"We've had great success in the last few weekends," she said. "With the addition of so many new players and girls who have been playing all of their lives and have a lot of talent, it took us a little bit just to get comfortable with our lines and working together, but in the last few games we've really improved those connections … and I think we're going to continue to win more games this year."
Coming off this past weekend's extremely competitive 3-2 and 3-1 setbacks against College Hockey East (CHE) rival Delaware, Saturday and Sunday at the LaHaye Ice Center, and heading into this weekend's rematch with Montclair State in New Jersey — a team Liberty University's ACHA Division II women's hockey team swept at home on Oct. 22-23.
"It's our first road trip this year, so it will be good for our girls to continue to build and encourage each other," Niemi said. "Of course, you become closer when you're on the road together. This weekend is going to show us a little bit of our future and what's coming up for us next semester because we're going to be traveling a lot."
Liberty's last home series of the semester will be Dec. 3-4 against CHE frontrunner Buffalo.
"Buffalo has scored a lot of goals in the last few months, so we've got to make sure that defensively, we're going to be strong, but offensively we put some (pucks) by them to keep the games close and give them a run for their top position in the East," Niemi said.
