Liberty University ACHA Division I women's hockey sophomore forward Lauren McDonald shares why John 3:16 is her favorite verse in the Bible on this week's Club Sports season-opening edition of "Keepers of the Flame."

McDonald, who sparked the Lady Flames' attack last season with her quickness and dexterity, uses this most well-known passage of the New Testament as her cut-to-the-chase witnessing tool, telling others that they can have a personal relationship with God and find salvation through Jesus Christ alone.

John 3:16 reads, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life," McDonald said.

"It pretty much sums up Christianity and I believe that when you're sharing Christ with a non-believer, that is what you should go to first and share that verse with them," McDonald said.

The Lady Flames will host the Tri-City (N.C.) Selects on Saturday at 9 p.m. and Sunday at 11 a.m. in the LaHaye Ice Center.
