Keepers of the Flame: Synchronized skater Adrielle Benner
June 10, 2016 | Lynchburg, Va.
On this segment of Keepers of the Flame, Liberty University synchronized skater Adrielle Benner discusses the power of prayer in her career as a Clubs Sports student-athlete.
Her favorite Scripture verse is Philippians 4:7, which reads, "Do not worry about anything, but instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank Him for all He has done."
She tries to take that verse to heart and live it out on a daily basis, no matter what happens on the ice or in her academic, personal, or spiritual life.
"It just helps me to really think about, when practices or competitions aren't going the way I think they should go or the way I feel like they should go, I can just take a moment and pause and give it to God because, ultimately, it's in His control," Benner said.
Club Sports video coordinator Gabe Henderson agreed with Benner's emphasis on yielding to God's perfect will and leaning on Him through times of adversity.
"Everything may not go as planned, but if we learn how to be comfortable with being uncomfortable, we can weather any storm," he said.
