Keepers of the Flame: Equestrian rider Cassandra Steptoe
January 12, 2016 | Lynchburg, Va.
Liberty University junior Cassandra Steptoe, a member of the Lady Flames' equestrian hunt seat riding team, clings to I Corinthians 13:4-7 as her life verses, as she shares in this week's segment of "Keepers of the Flame."
It reads, "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record or wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres,"
The familiar passage inspires Steptoe to live out her faith while pursuing her passion for horseback riding as well as a variety of other interests.
The journalism major from Kingsport, Tenn., who is a reporter with the Liberty Champion, is also minoring in music and performs with the Liberty Symphonic Orchestra and enjoys reading, art, and animals as well as writing and music.
"God's love transcends everything so whether it's working with horses or people … to have God's love shine through me is paramount in riding and life," said Steptoe, who plans to pursue a career in equine journalism upon graduating next year.
