Tickets available for first season in expanded ice center
July 24, 2015 | Lynchburg, Va.
Season tickets for Liberty University's ACHA Division I men's hockey team's home games in the LaHaye Ice Center, currently undergoing a major expansion that will double the number of seats and include 10 private suites, are now on sale online through the Liberty Ticket Office.
Single game tickets will not be made available until Oct. 19 at 9 a.m., prior to the Oct. 23 home opener against Davenport, the first game of the annual best-of-three Blue & Gray Cup. The Flames will host 19 of their 33 games in the arena throughout the 2015-16 season. Liberty's first homestand, from Oct. 23 through Nov. 14, will feature eight games against ACHA DI powers Davenport, Ohio (Oct. 30-31), Stony Brook (Nov. 6-7), and 2012 national champion Delaware (Nov. 13-14). The Flames will conclude their regular season Feb. 19-20 at home against 2013 national champion Minot State, a team they swept at home in the final two games last season.
The expanded arena will include a standing area directly behind one of the goals reserved for students to gather to generate noise from a close vantage point on top of the ice.
"This will be fantastic place to watch a college hockey game," Flames Head Coach Kirk Handy said. "The atmosphere will be unbelievable."
Liberty will open its season Sept. 18 at the Potomac Panthers in Woodbridge, Va., and will play its first five games on the road, starting its ACHA DI slate Oct. 2-3 at Minot State.
