Hunt Seat team opens with first-place finish at Region 4 show

Liberty University's Hunt Seat equestrian team captured four blue ribbons and three red ribbons to claim first place overall at its first Region 4 show on Sunday at Christopher Newport University in Newport News.
Sophomore Nadia Cooper placed first in the Intermediate Flat division while junior Hanna Gossard won the Limit Flat class while qualifying for regionals. Freshman Amanda Parrow had an exceptional debut for the Lady Flames, finishing first in the Pre-Novice category, and sophomore Grace Radulovic earned a blue ribbon at the Introductory Level.
Senior Amber Gayheart rode to a runner-up showing in the Open Fences division while junior Brooke Boan placed second in Limit Fences and sophomore Juliana Gorena earned a red ribbon in the Novice Flat. Sophomore Carly Woods placed third in the Limit Flat class.
Overall, the Lady Flames won with 41 team points, followed by Sweet Briar (38), William & Mary (33), Mary Washington (27), Randolph-Macon (21), Richmond (18), and host CNU (14). VCU and ODU did not score.
This Saturday and Sunday, Liberty's Hunt Seat team will travel to Williamsburg, Va., to compete in back-to-back shows hosted by William & Mary, while its Western team will open its season with its first two events hosted by perennial regional favorite St. Andrews in Laurinburg, N.C.
