Originally from Orlando, Florida, Richard Mast has been engaged in various aspects of the shooting sports for over 20 years. He is pleased to support Coach Hartman in development of a competitive rifle program for LU Club Sports – Air Rifle, .22 Smallbore, and Highpower Rifle. Competitive three-position rifle shooting, primarily in NRA/CMP Highpower Rifle, has been his primary discipline since 2005. In addition to personal development in the shooting sports, Mast has also provided coaching assistance to youth through involvement in 4-H Shooting Education programs. Under his guidance, his oldest daughter started her shooting sports career in Sporter Air Rifle; has graduated to Precision Air Rifle, and also participates in Highpower. Mast’s most recent best finish was at the 2017 CMP Eastern Games in North Carolina, where he claimed both the M16 EIC Match Winner and High Competitor awards. Married to his wife Janet for over 16 years, he and his wife have seven children who are active in school, church, and youth sports. Mast is a senior litigation attorney with Liberty Counsel, a non-profit litigation, education and public policy organization with an emphasis on First Amendment and religious liberty issues.
