Biography

Growing up in a small town in Pennsylvania, Dr. Milacci started learning Spanish in high school, but God called him to study and teach the language after studying abroad in Guatemala as an undergraduate student at Liberty University. Through these experiences, he came to love the beautifully diverse world we live in, and now, he has spent nearly two years living abroad in Latin American countries.

Dr. Milacci has been part of the faculty at Liberty University for over a decade in both residential and online capacities. He has taught and designed a wide variety of courses (both residential and online), whether at Liberty University or at the different institutions where he studied, including Spanish grammar, conversation, composition, culture and civilization of Latin America, literature, literary criticism and research, business Spanish, and translation. Additionally, he has taught English as a Foreign Language at the elementary and high school levels in Guatemala. In 2019, Dr. Milacci was awarded the President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching. In 2021, he received a Fulbright Scholar teaching and research grant to Brazil.

His dissertation (“Refashioning the Legacies of Lampião, Che Guevara, and Bartolomé de Las Casas in Literature in Film”) studies the role of literature, memory, and history in shaping the controversial legacies of well-known Latin American figures.
