Champion for Christ – Lacy Peacock

Lacy Peacock, a 1997 LU Communication graduate, received a calling toward ministry that eventually led her to become a corporate chaplain. She happened to be speaking at a women’s event almost thirteen years ago when her previous boss’s wife noticed her abilities while at the event, and spoke to her husband about granting Lacy a job opportunity. When Lacy’s phone rang, she had no idea what a corporate chaplain even was, but loved the idea of delving into corporate America to share her faith. She ended up taking the opportunity and ran with it for ten years. Now, she is a Regional Director over most of GA/AL where their mission statement is to, ‘build caring relationships with the hope of gaining permission to share the life-changing Good News of Jesus Christ in a non-threatening manner.’

Right after her graduation, Lacy moved to Atlanta, GA to begin working with John Maxwell. Since she had relocated to a new city, she didn’t know anyone quite yet. Her aunt was a hairdresser and did someone’s hair who had a nephew that graduated from LU. She asked if he would be willing to show me around. This is how she met her husband. They both graduated in the same year, where Billy Graham was the Commencement speaker, and their families happened to be great friends.

She and her husband have now been married for 22 years and live right outside of Atlanta with their two boys. They recently attended CFAW (College For A Weekend) where their oldest son has expressed interest in continuing the LU legacy. While at Liberty, Lacy recalls loving everything and enjoyed coming back to see the same-spirited campus.

Some advice she would like to give to current students and fellow alumni is to, “Keep Christ as the center of everything you do! Surround yourself with people that are growing in their relationship with the Lord and are not settling for anything less. Be humble and vulnerable. Don’t isolate yourself.” She sees her greatest accomplishment as walking with the Lord. Lacy explains, “From Word of Life, to LU, to Southeastern seminary, INJOY, Corporate Chaplains of America, and church ministry with my husband, we have stayed the course and followed Jesus. On my dying day I want to say the same thing. My life is His and I want to give Him my all!”
