Letter from the Director – January 2022

To all of our Liberty Champions!

I wanted to start by saying that I am praying for all of you to have a wonderful and blessed 2022.

I am the Director of Alumni Relations at Liberty University, Giuseppe Cucci, for those who do not know me. Starting this month, I will post a Letter from the Director to help keep you updated on happenings here at Liberty University and the Office of Alumni Relations.

Over the last year and a half, I reviewed our office’s standard practices and overall structure. In doing so, I made decisions that would help streamline and provide you with better service at our office. Last year, we expanded the staff from one to four full-time staff to provide better service and added three student workers to assist our day-to-day operations. So far, we have seen an increased volume of alumni visits, calls, emails, and physical mail.

Secondly, we needed a more visible and accessible location on or near campus. In the middle of last September, we moved our office to the Candler’s Station located adjacent to campus. For some of you, you’ll remember the Drowsy Poet Coffee Shop. We sit just to the right of that former coffee shop. I want to invite you to come to visit our office. This location has become a wonderful new home for us, and we want to share that with you!

Next, we are beginning to open up more events in different country regions. On November 9th, we hosted our Annual Washington, DC Alumni Reception. Being on a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19, I was elated to see many of our alumni join us. Thank you to all that made that event fun and successful! We cannot wait to see you next year. Now that we are moving into the spring semester, we plan on visiting Atlanta and Houston in March. So be on the lookout on our social media and in your email for more information to come soon.

This Spring, we are launching a new platform to help bring our alumni back together. Soon you will be able to join the Liberty University Alumni Community. The Liberty University Alumni Community will be our signature digital platform that provides community, a business directory of alumni own businesses, direct access to Handshake, alumni directory, and many more. You’ll be able to set up your account soon by visiting our main website: www.liberty.edu/alumni

Lastly, I collaborated with our campus partners to begin reorganizing our Liberty University Alumni Association. May 2021, I started working on organizing our first Black Alumni Advisory Board to help advise our office on programming for our minority alumni around the country. I felt that this was an essential first step forward for our office and to further our collaboration with the Office of Inclusion Diversity and Equity.

As we begin to roll out more programming and engagement opportunities, I encourage you to update your information with us and register to receive the exclusive 50th Anniversary LU Alumni ID Card here.

Go Flames!

Giuseppe Cucci
