Adventure Leadership and Outdoor Ministry specialization - M.S. in Christian Leadership & Church Ministries

Note from the Chair

“Adventure is where the outcome is not predetermined nor controlled by us. Leadership is the capacity to move others toward goals shared with you, with a focus and competency they would not achieve on their own. The goal of Adventure Leadership and Outdoor Ministries (ALOM) is to influence positive spiritual change in the lives of participants through their activity in relevant outdoor experiences that are specifically designed with the purpose to make one more aware of, more reliant on, and to draw one closer to the Creator and His Creation.

Dr. Jerry Falwell defined Saturation Evangelism as ‘Reaching every available person by every available means at every available time.’ One of the ways that we seek to do that is through the great outdoors. Recent studies have shown that people have a growing desire to explore and learn about the outdoors, and people are more inclined to be involved in outdoor adventure if it was sponsored by a church or faith-based organization.

Dr. Jerry Falwell’s vision to train and equip young people for ministry has gone beyond the walls of the church. The Department of Christian Leadership and Church Ministries has begun to capitalize on the interest from the public and from many of our students who have desire to reach people through this available means. There are many outdoor leadership programs being offered but the Adventure Leadership and Outdoor Ministries (ALOM) program offered at Liberty University is doing so with a focus on evangelism and discipleship ministry through the local church or para-church organizations.  Join us at Liberty University to turn your passion and calling into a vocation and learn how to lead people to know and worship the Creator by taking an adventure through His creation.”
