General education courses support the mission and philosophy of Liberty University. All associate and bachelor degree-seeking students are required to complete the general education requirements.

The courses below have been approved to satisfy general education elective requirements through transfer or residency. Students should not take courses at another institution without first completing a Transient Request (RTTAC).

Associate degrees require a minimum of 15 semester hours (or equivalent). Bachelor's degrees require a minimum of 30 semester hours (or equivalent). These credit hours must include a minimum of one course from the following areas:

  1. Humanities/fine arts (HFA)
  2. Social/behavioral sciences (SBS)
  3. Natural science/mathematics (NSM)
