Liberty University Institutional Review Board (IRB)

Protecting the rights and welfare of human participants in research studies, the Liberty University IRB reviews research proposals to ensure the privacy, anonymity, and safety of research volunteers. The IRB committee consists of faculty members from various Liberty departments and one non-university member.

Research on human subjects is regulated by the federal government through the Department of Health and Human Services’ Office for Human Research Protections. The IRB is required to review all research involving human participants before any is conducted.

Your Research Responsibilities

Before beginning a project that involves investigating or collecting information on living human participants for research, it is the responsibility of each investigator (university faculty member, staff member, or student) to seek review by the IRB.
