A Cohort Structure

The B.S. in Cinematic Arts encompasses both theoretical and practical learning structures. Freshmen who enter the program are encouraged to complete their general education requirements and their core classes (CINE 201, 202 & 203) by the end of their sophomore year.

Once students begin their junior year, they enter a cohort structure of learning. They will remain in that cohort of classmates with an assigned cohort professor for their junior- and senior-year courses. This allows them to acquire hands-on practice and teamwork skills in a stable, collaborative learning environment.

To enter into a cohort, students must pass through the Continuance Gate. Students who are close to finishing their general education requirements and their core classes (CINE 201, 202 & 203) qualify to complete a Continuance Gate submission form. Typically, students qualify in their sophomore year.
