Easter Weekend

April 25, 2014

This last weekend was Easter Break and since I can’t go home to Minnesota, I went to Virginia Beach instead with a group of friends. We didn’t actually go to the beach because of the weather, but we stopped by for about 30 minutes just so I could experience the ocean again before I go back to the land of a thousand lakes.

While down in Virginia Beach I mostly stayed at my friend Adie’s house and met all of her family. Her family is hilarious, just like Adie, but they are also very sweet and hospitable. On Easter it was a little hard not being with my own family, but Adie's family took me in with ease. On the first night I stayed with my friend Jenna. A fun fact about these girls: Adie and Jenna have been best friends for over 10 years so they are a lot of fun! Jenna comes from a big family where she has 6 siblings, not including herself. Not all of her siblings were home this, but her three younger siblings were home and her new baby cousin.

Living far away from home is always bittersweet. Bitter because I can’t always go home, but sweet because on breaks I get to go home with people and deepen relationships. As the year has gone by I have become more comfortable with the distance that is between me and my family. I have become more independent and dependent all at the same time.

O'doodle Doos donuts are the best donuts. My favorite one was the red velvet in the bottom left corner of the box.

The beach was super windy, but we made the most of it.

It is crazy how the ocean can be the most beautiful thing you've ever seen and at the same time be the most frightening thing you've ever seen.
