It's a New Year!August 21, 2013
Hi everyone- my name is Kaitlyn Schiess and I’m one of the new Student Bloggers! I am starting my sophomore year at Liberty, and I am a History major with minors in French and Government. I’m hoping to go to law school after graduating from Liberty, or pursue a teaching degree. I grew up across the United States, as my dad has been in the United States Air Force for over 20 years. I spent the majority of my childhood in Colorado and Virginia, but I also lived in North Dakota, California, Ohio, and Florida. I have one little sister, Kendra, and an amazing Mom and Dad.
Because my parents still travel with the military and moved again last year, Liberty has been my home for the past year.
And I couldn’t imagine a better place to call home - Liberty has been the greatest decision I ever made.
I’ve made amazing friends and grown spiritually and academically. I found a family in the Liberty Debate Team - a competitive team that has challenged me, stretched me, and given me a support system of believers that love each other.
That’s why I’m so excited to start this blog- to share my experiences at Liberty University and the amazing time I’m having here.
I hope that my reflections will convey all the reasons my experience has been so enriching - Liberty has exceeded my expectations. I expected to get an education, to join a competitive debate team, and make good friends. I didn’t expect to fall in love with learning again, to experience my Lord and Savior in a whole new way, and to join a community of believers that would enrich my life in so many ways.
I thank the Lord every day that He guided me to Liberty. Like many Liberty students, my journey to Liberty was an interesting one. Despite my earthly plans, God had a greater plan for my life than I could ever have dreamed. He taught me last year that my plans pale in comparison to the amazing design He has for me, and I’m beyond excited to see what He has in store for me this year.
