Homecoming 2013October 29, 2013
This past weekend was one of the best and busiest weekends I’ve had in a long time (very different from last weekend)! A bunch of my friends who graduated in May were back for their first homecoming since graduation. Since it was only for the weekend, we tried to pack way too much into two days. For any alumni out there, here’s a quick recap of just a few things you could be a part of next year!
We started Friday off by heading to convocation where we got to hear from Liberty’s new softball coach, Dot Richardson. Talk about one outstanding woman who loves the Lord and has been given so many talents.
That evening we headed to the Liberty vs. Davenport Hockey game with a group of our friends. That was definitely one of the most intense games I’ve seen at Liberty and we all had a fun time catching up on life (usually what girls do at sporting events, lets be honest). After the game we stopped by for the end of the homecoming bonfire and drank hot chocolate and roasted marshmallows. We headed to bed early that night because we had a early morning ahead of us!
Remember a few weeks back when I said that as long as I was healthy I would be running in the Deep Hollow 5k. Well, I was healthy so therefore I ran! A group of 11 of us girls decided to run this together and we had a blast. It was straight up hill the first 1.5 mile and then straight downhill the second half. My official time was 35:39 and I was extremely happy with that time since it was my very first 5k race! Not sure if I’ll ever run a trail race again but I’m definitely going to keep training because I have a new found passion for running!
We all quickly went home and got ready for the big rivalry football game against Coastal Carolina. Last season, several of my friends and I would go to the game about 2 hours early to get good seats and we continued the tradition this year. It was great to be right up with the action again. Unfortunately we lost the game in double overtime but we had a great time being together cheering on the Flames!
