Family, Football, and ThankfulnessNovember 19, 2012
As the Thanksgiving season is here, I have begun to realize just how much I value time with my family. With my parents living in Sweden and my extended family spread out all over America and even the world, I don’t get a chance to see them very often. I absolutely love Liberty and know God called me to come here for a Christian education but sometimes its hard being so far from family. This past weekend God gave me such refreshment and I got to see my dad, uncle, grandparents, and cousin. The older I get, the more I realize how important family is. If you’re in High School or you’re a Liberty student visiting your family for thanksgiving, make sure to love on your family and tell them how thankful you are for them!
The reason I got to see my family was because my cousin played in the Virginia Independent Schools Division 1 State Championship football game against LCA in Williams Stadium. Going into the game, LCA was ranked #1 and my cousin's school (Fork Union Military Academy) was ranked #2. We knew it was going to be a great game but LCA ended up beating FUMA 35-14. Both teams had incredible players and it truly showed that they were the top teams in Virginia.
Liberty Christian Academy is a private High School that is located on Liberty’s campus. Students who attend LCA often come to Liberty afterwards because of great scholarships Liberty offers for them. LCA is a great school that upholds the same Christian values as Liberty! Although I was cheering for FUMA and my cousin, LCA definitely played incredibly and deserved becoming State Champions. Here is a little video below of the LCA Bulldogs celebrating after the game!
