Homecoming Weekend

October 9, 2012

As a current student at Liberty, I can’t wait to graduate sometimes and be done with school! However whenever I talk to Liberty Alumni, they always remind me to enjoy still being at school because they miss it so much. Homecoming is that one weekend a year that Liberty Alumni get to come back to their Alma Mater and re-experience what it was like to be a student!

There were so many fun events going on this past weekend that even if you wanted to, you wouldn’t have been able to do them all! Liberty sure does shower some love on their Alumni! Alumni were able to enjoy several different sporting events, the bonfire, a carnival, the play "Into the Woods", and much more! This weekend I decided to go to the pep-rally homecoming bonfire and of course the football game (who would have guessed!?).

The bonfire was so much fun because we got to hear from our football team, Coach Gill, listen to the marching band drum line, and witness the largest bonfire I’ve ever seen. This year the bonfire was so huge that they had to move people further away than the marked off area because of the wind!

At the football game, we got there super early to get front row seats so we could cheer on the Flames like never before! The game is so much more intense from the front row and you have such a different view of the field. One awesome perk of this is that you have a chance to get a ticket from Chancellor Falwell and Becki to go up to their box during the 4th quarter to meet them and eat some awesome food! This past weekend I got one!! Liberty definitely has THE coolest Chancellor and he really does care about interacting with students!

I am SOOOOO excited to be able to report that we WON our game this weekend against Gardner-Webb, 42-35!!! Our team put up the most incredible fight this weekend and all of their hard work really paid off! After the game was over, students stormed the field to congratulate the players and coaches!
