Welcome Week 2012August 15, 2012
In my last blog I talked about what to expect during your first week at Liberty and how it can be a little intimidating coming to a new school. So I wanted to give you a little more on Welcome Week for freshman and transfer students. I already said there are so many things to do and if you want detailed information, check out the Fall Orientation Booklet.
During Welcome Week you will have some things that are required but you wouldn’t want to miss them anyway. The first required event is Convocation at 9:00am in the Vines Center. If you are a new student I am sure you know about the Freshman 101 class. Depending on which section you are in, you will have them at different times. On Thursday (August 16th) and Friday (August 17th) you will go to this class to learn all about how Liberty works along with some electives you can choose from! You will meet awesome people in this class who are in the same boat as you are! On Saturday you will also attend a seminar about the ILRC!
In the midst of all these classes and electives you will also have a FUN time! On Wednesday the kick-off of the year is the Back to School Bash in the New Schilling Center at LaHaye (see map in the orientation booklet!). Thursday at 5:15pm we have the Chancellor's Kickoff Dinner in the Williams Stadium with all the new and transfer students. On Friday night there is a Movie Feature and on Saturday at 7:00pm there is a Football Scrimmage in Williams Stadium that you won’t want to miss! Also check your booklet and the splash page for other events and more details.
After such a busy and fun week, CLASSES START MONDAY AUGUST 20th!!! I will have a blog coming soon with tips for studying and learning how college is different from High School!
