Jerry Falwell Library GroundbreakingMarch 7, 2012
Today, I got to be a part of an important day in Liberty history. Chancellor Jerry Falwell Jr. and other board members broke ground on the construction for the new library dedicated to his father, our founder Jerry Falwell Sr. During Convocation today, everyone moved from inside the Vines Center to outside next to the Schilling Center. The new library will be where the Schilling center is now.
When we got outside there were people everywhere! I loved that all the students came out and supported our school in making history! Dr. Elmer Towns, Dr. Ron Godwin and Jerry Falwell Jr., all spoke to the students about the new library and what it will offer the students. One thing that blew me away was that one of the Dead Sea Scrolls, which are currently on display in the Vatican, are going to be on display in the Library when it opens. Towards the end of the ceremony, Chancellor Falwell got into an excavator and began demolishing the building right away! We definitely have a really cool Chancellor!
