Swipe Options on CampusJanuary 30, 2012
One of the biggest adjustments I had when I came to Liberty was the food. Something that we definitely take for granted when we live at home is the immediate access to food and the home cooked meals ready for us. There are some great options to choose from on campus but you have to go to them, they don’t just come to you (unless you order Pizza!). Since I came in as a freshman last year, Liberty has made huge improvements to the Dining Services. When choosing your meal plan at the beginning of each semester you can pick between those listed below, which vary in Swipes, Meal Points and Flames cash. A Meal Plan Swipe according to Liberty's FAQ is: "part of a residential student's meal plan allowing entrance into the Reber-Thomas Dining Hall and the Lynchburg Annex or a meal swipe equivalent at other Liberty Dining locations. Swipes are given in week allotments and reset each Friday morning."
Here are the highlights of my favorite locations on campus to use a meal swipe!
One of Liberty’s newest additions this year was a place to get subs and use a meal swipe. I usually go here close to 5 times a week because they have so many incredible options. The way the swipe works is that you can get any 6-inch sub, 20 oz. fountain drink, and a choice between chips, 2 cookies, yogurt or fruit. This is great because not only is it healthy but you also get a good variety of food to choose from.
This swipe option offers several different choices but not everything on the menu is available with a swipe. They have flatbread pizzas, flatbread salads and flatbread rolls. I have tried several of the swipe options but my favorite has to be Chicken Pesto on the flatbread. When you use a swipe, you get one of the flatbreads, a 20 oz fountain drink and a choice of chips, yogurt, or cookies. This is one of the best options because they are open until 10 p.m weekdays and 12 a.m weekends. So for those of you who get hungry late at night, this is a great healthy option.
If you are ever craving breakfast food for dinner, then the place to go is Doc’s Diner! Recently they added some swipe options on the menu and I’ve already been twice in the past week to try them! Not only do they serve breakfast for dinner but they also have a daily special that you can get for a swipe. If you want a diner feel and great food, this is the place to go!
Something that I just came across recently on the Liberty Dining Website is the ability to submit recipes from home that you want the Reber Thomas Dining Hall to make. So if you are ever really missing home, then submit your favorite recipe and you can have some of your favorite recipes from home here at school!
