Somalia Relief ConcertSeptember 16, 2011
Something that has really peaked my interest over the past few weeks since Vernon Brewer spoke in convocation is the Famine in Somalia. The main reason I really want to support World Help is because there are so many people who are uneducated and still unaware of the crisis that continues to get worse in Somalia.
On Friday night, World Help decided to host a free relief concert to help raise money for Somalia in which all the proceeds went straight to providing food and medicine for refugee camps. The local artists that performed were: Paul Davidson, Joy Lippard, John Mark Pantana, Taylor Holder, and Gabe Hernandez. There was free coffee donated by Starbucks and The Muse coffee shop. Overall I really enjoyed myself and I know the event was a success because over 600 Liberty students showed up and over $4,600 was raised to help the people of Somalia.
