Downtown LynchburgMay 3, 2011
On Saturday, April 30th was my 19th birthday! So my friends and I decided to venture to downtown Lynchburg, only a 10 minute drive from Liberty. I had been down there once before during my first semester, however, I never actually spent time walking around and exploring. When we got downtown we parked on the main street and our adventure began.
One of my friends is a really good photographer so we had a little photo shoot. We first ventured up to the Monument Terrace which is a staircase with 139 steps! It is a monument to commemorate the soldiers from Lynchburg who died in different wars.
In the middle of the stairs there is a little path leading off to a small rose garden which was the perfect scenery for taking photos. As you get to know more about Liberty you will understand that there are so many students who have an amazing eye for photography, and you might join in on some photo shoots.
We then ventured back down to the waterand walked around. We even stumbled upon Riverviews Artspace which unfortunately, was closed (but we are planning to come back another day to see all the different artwork). On our way back to the car we stopped in a little café called Catalano’s Delicatessen. We sampled some of their Gelato and I instantly felt like I was back in Italy. It tasted like real Italian Gelato! This was the best adventure a girl could have asked for on her birthday!
