General

Where do I begin? 
Begin by logging on to ASIST from Liberty's Splash Page. You can log in by going to www.liberty.edu and clicking on "LU Log-in."  Once you log in you will then click "Log in to New ASIST" on the left hand side. Select "Student and Financial Aid;" then "Registration," then "Add or Drop Classes." Select the correct term and submit. The next page will show you current classes for that term. If you are in the registration period, you may drop those courses on that page. You may also search for courses by CRN, or by name.

I don't know my ASIST username and password. Where can I find it?
Go to http://www.Liberty.edu, click "LU Login" at the top of the page. Under the username and password box click "Create Account." If you do not have any of the information, contact (434) 592-5100 or e-mail the Help Desk.

What is a "hold"?
A hold is what the University uses to flag students who have outstanding issues. There are Warning Holds and Hard Holds. A Warning Hold will not prevent you from registering for classes. Hard Holds will prevent you from registering for classes and completing Financial Check-In. To view holds you may have, click the link on the left-hand side entitled "View My Holds." This will list the holds you have and provide information to reconcile your holds.

The most common hold is a Student Accounts Hard Hold.  This hold is place on a student's account if they owe more the $50 for the current semester. 

Is there a Fax machine I can use on campus?
Yes, there is a Fax machine available for student use in the Student Service Center.  

My LibertyOne Card is not working. How can I fix this?
Make sure you have activated your card by visiting www.LibertyUOne.com and following the steps. If the card is still not working, contact the Liberty One Card office, located next to Light Medical in Campus North.

Can I purchase a Commuter meal plan?
If you have a credit balance on your account that has not been put aside for another expense, you can purchase a Commuter meal plan. Please see the Cashier's office to request the correct form.  

Where do I pay my bill?
Payments to your student account can be made through the Cashier's office, through our phone center,  On-line (which is posted to your account immediately) or by mailing a payment to the Student Accounts Office. 

If a student makes a payment to remove a hold, the hold will be removed when the nightly process is run. 

Where can I pay for a parking ticket?
You can pay parking ticket fines at the Cashier's window in the Student Service Center, through ASIST, or by contacting Student Accounts at (434) 592-5100. 

Can I cash a Check?
Yes, you may cash a check up to $50.00 at the Cashier's window. You must have your ID, and there is a $1.00 fee for each check. You may cash one every 7 days.  

How can I change my refund preference?
Go to www.LibertyUOne.com. Log in with your username and password, and click the "Financial Refunds" tab. Click on "Refund Preferences" and choose the option that suits you best.   

Where can I purchase a Book Voucher?
You can request a Book Voucher through Financial Check-In. At this time, the amount can NOT be canceled or changed. Once a Book Voucher is entered it can not be changed. 

 

  Student Accounts 

I have been charged a dorm fee, but I don't live on campus. How can I get this removed?
Make sure that you have submitted an Off-campus Housing request.  If you have submitted this request and been approved, please go back through Financial Check-in to remove this fee.  If hte still is not removed when you get to the final page in Financial Check-in, please contact the Housing department by e-mail or phone at (434) 592-4139. 

Can I purchasea Commuter meal plan?

If you have a credit balance on your account that has not been put aside for some other expense, you can purchase a Commuter meal plan. Fill out a request form, request a signature from the Head Cashier, and then take the approved form and your Liberty One Card to the Sodexho office to update your plan.  

My automatic draft came back declined. Can I adjust my payments to cover the balance?

No, the declined draft must be made up along with any additional fees.

I have a remaining balance from a previous semester. Can I carry it over into the next semester?

No, you MUST have a $0.00 balance on your account.

How do I complete Financial Check-In?

Log in to the New ASIST from the Liberty University Splash Page. If you receive a page that says "try again" please click on the words "try again" or refresh the page.  Click the link entitle "Student and Financial Aid." Then select "Financial Check-In" at the bottom of the list.

How do I change the Credit Card or Checking Account information for my automatic drafts?

You can change your information by going back through Financial Check-In. You may change the account information on the "Payment Plan Selection" section page.   Please make sure to click continue at the bottom of the page and continue through check-in to the last page until you see the message that says "Thank you for completing Financial Check-in". 
 

Where do I pay my bill?

Payments to your student account can be made through the Cashier's office, On-line in the New ASIST (which post to your account immediately), over the phone with a Credit Card or by mailing a payment to the Student Accounts Office. 

Where can I pay for a parking ticket?

You can pay parking ticket fines on ASIST or at the Cashier's window in the Student Service Center. 

Can I cash a Check?

Yes, you may cash a check up to $50.00 at the Cashier's window. You must have your ID, and there is a $1.00 fee for each check. You may cash one check every 7 days.  

How can I change my refund preference?
Go to www.LibertyUOne.com. Log in with your username and password, and click the "Financial Refunds" tab. Click on "Refund Preferences" and choose the option that suits you best.

Where can I purchase a Book Voucher?
You can request a Book Voucher through Financial Check-In. At this time, the amount can NOT be changed or canceled.   
DLP Student will received a Book Voucher Number.  Resident students can take their ID Card to the bookstore, you will not receive a Book Voucher Number. 

I have a monthly draft for my payment plan.  Is it possible to pay this in cash instead of drafting it out of my checking account or credit card? 

No, we can not cancel a payment from the automatic draft procedure. We can not stop a payment plan unless payment arrangements have been made to cover the entire balance.

  
 

 Financial Aid 

I need more funding to complete my Financial Check-In. Who can help me?
Come in to the Student Service Center and speak to your Financial Aid Counselor. They can give you information about obtaining more money through scholarships or loans. The Student Advocate can also provide information about scholarships for returning students, and they can be reached by e-mail or by calling (434) 582-7200.
How can I apply for a loan?  
Loan applications as well as Entrance Interviews and signing your Master Promissory Note can be done online.  Click here to visit the link. 
Where can I find the Dependent and Independent Verification forms? 
These forms can be found on the Financial Aid website, click here to go to the forms.  If you have questions regarding Verification policies, please click here.  Please make sure you are selecting the correct school year. 
Where do I submit my tax documents for Verification? 
Come in to the Student Service Center and submit your documents to your Financial Aid Counselor.  You can also fax these documents to 434-582-2053.  Please make sure that you send in a copy of your signed tax forms.  To ensure all of your document are processed, please include your ID number on every page of every document. 
 
Where can I fill out a FAFSA form? 
You can fill out your FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov 

How can I change the amount or cancel my loans?
Click here to fill find our loan change form.  This can be turned into the Financial Aid Office or faxes to 434-582-2053. 

I am on Financial Aid Suspension.  How can I submit an appeal?

An appeal form can be obtained from the Student Service Center or the Financial Aid website.  A written appeal must be turned into your Financial Aid Counselor along with a third party letter for documentation.  Once your appeal and third party letter is submitted, your appeal will be reviewed and you will be contacted with a decision.

I've reconciled my holds and I still can't register! What should I do? 
 
First make sure you are in the correct term. 
Try logging off ASIST, close your internet browser (Internet Explorer, Safari, FireFox, etc.) open a new window. Log back into ASIST. You must log out for the system to recognize the change. Some Hard Holds take 24-48 hours to be removed from your account.
If you are still unable to regsiter, please contact the Registrar's Office at 434-592-5100. 
 
It is my time to register and I still can't. I don't have any Hard Holds on my account. What should I do?
Most likely, you have information missing from your account, and it needs to be updated. Please contact the Registrar's Office to find out what is missing and how to rectify the problem. They can be reached by e-mail or by calling (434) 592-5100. 
 
Do I have to do Financial Check-In before I register for classes?
If you are a returning student,  you do not have to complete Financial Check-in before you register, but if you have an outstanding balance on your student account of $50.00 or more, you will have a Hard Hold preventing you from registering or completing check-in. You can make a payment through ASIST or call Student Accounts with your credit card information. 
 
I need verification that I am a Full-Time Student. Where can I request this?
You can come in to the Student Service Center on Campus North and fill out a blue Verification form to submit to the Registrar's Office. Verification takes approximately 2-3 days, and can be mailed, faxed or picked up at the Registrar window. You can also e-mail Registrar@Liberty.edu with a request for verification. 
How do I request a transcript?
You can request a transcript on-line, by mail or fax or here in the Student Service Center. You can also come in to the Student Service Center and fill out a Transcript Request form. You can pay the fee at the Cashier's window, and submit the form to the Registrar's window. Please allow 2-3 days processing time to receive your transcripts.
 
How do I substitute one course for another?
Come in to the Student Service Center and obtain a Course Substitution Form. Then submit this completed form with all of the required signatures to the Registrar's window.
 
The class I transferred into Liberty did not count as what I thought. How can I have it reviewed?
Come in to the Student Service Center and fill out a Transfer Evaluation Inquiry form and submit it to the Registrar's window. 
When will I receive my Diploma?
Graduation Diplomas and Certificates will be mailed 12 to 16 weeks after the your degree has been conferred by your Academic Evaluator and a $0.00 balance on your Student Account. Please make sure the correct address is on your Graduation Application. 
If you have a question regarding your degree conferral, please contact your Academic Evaluator.  If you are an Undergraduate student, please contact your CASAS Advisor. 
If you need to change the address, email lalevesque@Liberty.edu with your name, ID number and updated address. 
 
I have a Drop/Add Form with the professor’s signature to add a class. Who do I give this to?
Come in to the Student Service Center and submit the form to the Registrar's Office window. 
 
I need to register for an Intensive or Internship and I need a signature. Where can I get this?
For an Intensive, you can register online until the deadline. Once the Intensive registration deadline has passed, you will be unable to register over the internet.  ou will need to pick up an Intensive Form in the Student Service Center, pay for the course then have it signed by Student Accounts.

For an Internship, you need to have a signature from Student Accounts before you can submit the form to the Registrar's Office for registration. Intensives fall under the block rate for courses in the Fall and Spring semesters. A signature from the professor is required 30 days before the class begins.   

How much does is cost to Audit a course?
It costs $75.00 per credit hour to Audit a course.  
 
How can I get permission to take courses at another institution, or can I get a a class pre-approved to transfer in to Liberty from another school?
Fill out a Transient Approval Form and submit the completed form to the Registrar's window with all required signatures.
   
How do I register for Summer School?
 
To register for an Internship, you must have a zero balance for the following semester and the Internship must be paid for when registering for the course. 

Summer School registration is open for a period on-line.  After the on-line registration closes, you will have to pay for the course and obtain Student Accounts signature then register in person at the Registrar's window.  You must complete Financial Check-in for summer courses.  The only payment plan option is to pay in full for summer courses.
