Louis M. Alvey holds a Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health degree. He is currently a Resident in Counseling for state licensure in Virginia. Louis has worked in the mental health field for nine years, the majority of that time serving military service members, veterans, and their families. He has worked in outpatient facilities in the areas of severe mentally illness, substance abuse, school based support for children as well as Mental Health crisis and emergency response.
Most recently Louis worked as the state coordinator for the Resilience, Substances Abuse Prevention, and Suicide Prevention Programs, in a fulltime capacity, as a commissioned officer in the Virginia Army National Guard. He continues to serve as an officer in Virginia’s 116 IBCT Stonewall Brigade.
Louis entered the counseling profession following deployments as an enlisted soldier and seeing a need for those in the military and veterans seeking help for mental health concerns related to their service. He was awarded the NBCC Foundation’s Military Scholarship to promote increased access to counseling services for military service members and veterans, and continues to work to that end.
The Lord has blessed Louis with an amazing wife in Amanda, and their six children.
