Christopher Veade is originally from Louisiana, but after serving eight and half years in the U.S. Marine Corps, he currently lives in Northern Virginia. He is a Program Manager within the Federal Government while pursuing a degree in Master of Arts in Christian Ministry with Liberty Univeristy Online.
My story is about overcoming circumstances that might otherwise hinder your progress of completing your degree or certification. While at Liberty University as an online student, there were many times that circumstances, or seasons, would have stopped the progress that I made. While taking classes, I could have used these setbacks as an excuse to stop, but I didn’t.
In the last two years, my previous house flooded twice in the finished basement. Then, my newly built house that we only lived in for 10 days partially flooded as well. The following summer in June 2017, I testified and sat in courtroom while the trial for my sister’s murder went on for four days. In both circumstances, I was a full-time online student, working full-time, and still had to balance time with my wife and kids. We all go through things in our life that could hinder our progress or cause us to want to take a break.
God brought you to Liberty University for a reason, and with over 100,000 students on campus and online, it is easy to lose sight of that. Jeremiah 29:11 speaks of God’s plan for us and His intent for us to do great things. Even when things seem to overwhelm you remember that God is there, and He will provide a light to shine through whatever darkness that is trying to overcome you. We are Champions for Christ trying to fulfill the Great Commission by continuing to be the salt and light for others to emulate. Keep pressing on in your coursework even when things seem to overwhelm you. Remember, He will never abandon you in your time of need. God Bless you all and God loves you all.
