#MyGradLife is a monthly campaign that introduces graduate students from a variety of programs and walks of life. This months feature is Emma Huxster, a first year grad student studying Strategic Communication. Emma is also a new GSA for Graduate and Commuter Student Life!
Where is your favorite spot on campus to study?
My favorite spot to study is the second or third floor of Montview. I love being able to study with my friends there and enjoy the gorgeous views of campus.
Where is your favorite spot in Lynchburg to have fun?
I love visiting the shops in downtown Lynchburg or shopping at the farmers market on Saturdays. I also LOVE coffee, so I enjoy visiting all the local coffee shops in LYH (Dublin has a great vanilla dirty chai).
Where did you do your undergrad? What was it in?
My undergrad was in Business Administration: Digital Marketing and Advertising at Liberty University.
What is your major and when will you graduate?
I'm pursuing my masters in Strategic Communications and plan to graduate in 2022.
Do you have a favorite scripture?
One of my favorite pieces of scripture is Jeremiah 29:12-13 which says, "then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." I think sometimes we can let the stress of life take over our thoughts, especially when school and homework is involved. So, when I first started school at LU, I wrote this piece of scripture on a sticky note and kept it on my laptop as a way to constantly remind me to seek after God, even when life gets overwhelming.
Where are you from?
I grew up in Arizona, but now call Virginia home.
Any advice or encouragement to give to your undergraduate sisters and brothers in Christ?
If I could give one piece of encouragement to my undergrad or grad brothers and sisters in Christ, it would be to enjoy the present and take advantage of every opportunity granted to you during your time at Liberty. College goes by so fast, so really take the time to enjoy it and invest in friendships and your education. I would also encourage you to get involved in a student club, local church, or sports team. When you get involved is when you thrive and when you can use those God given talents
