Featured Speaker: Dr. Chris Gnanakan
Every month Graduate Student Life features residential graduate students who have influenced the lives of others and who are active on Liberty University’s campus life as well as the Lynchburg community. This month we feature graduate student, Amanda Elgin.
Amanda is the Chair of our Graduate Student Advisory Board and is a graduate student in the M.A. in Christian Ministry program with a focus in Discipleship and Church ministry. Amanda received her undergraduate degree from Longwood University in Education, K-8 and also substitute teaches in Lynchburg City Schools while enrolled as a full time Liberty graduate student.
“College is only a short period of time in your life. Be bold in who you are, and the person God made you to be. Do not be afraid to be who you are. Be bold in sharing life with other people. Just because your life doesn’t represent some else’s Instagram, does not mean there is anything wrong with you. Our culture manipulates us to thinking that life should be perfect filtered moments for all our friends to see. That is so far from the truth. God knew life would be totally imperfect, that is why he sent a perfect Savior to fill in the gaps. Be authentic with those close to you, and experience the growth and freedom from being real. Absorb every amount of unique cultures and experiences you can be a part of in college. Go on the trips with your friends. Take advantage of an LU send trip. Absorb the little moments that build lasting relationships.”
Be sure to also attend the various events around LU!
