Greetings,

Welcome to Liberty University!  Over the next several years, you are going to embark on one of the most exciting and memorable times of your life. You have ventured forth onto this magnificent campus to experience life removed from your previous experiences. You are about to learn who you are when no one is looking.

When you are in an environment where everyone knows you, your life can become filled with expectations. Oftentimes, these expectations are formed by a decision you made years ago. Your actions have formed perceptions of who you are. Many of us spend our lives trying to leave behind decisions we wish we would never have made. Moving to a new stage of life, in a new location, often gives the opportunity to start a clean slate. Sure, some of the expectations are still there.  Your parents have expectations about your academic success. Your pastor has expectations about your spiritual success. Your friends have expectations of relationship success. However, those watching are now largely removed. You’ve moved out. You’ve moved away. You’ve started anew.

This can be an exciting time, but also an anxious time. It is a time full of new choices, full of new opportunities, to shape a new tomorrow. Who will you be? That may be the most important decision you will ever make, and you will make it here, but you won’t make it alone. Remember that Liberty University is populated with staff and faculty who are devoted to seeing you succeed. We don’t see expectations; we see an amazing abundance of potential. The men and women of Community Life are here to stand with you. When you make decisions you regret, we’ll help you make it right. When you make decisions that honor the Lord, we will be proud of you. When you fall, we will pick you up to the best of our ability.

Jesus said in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” When you are figuring out who you will be, don’t forget who you are in Christ and where your anchor is. If you anchor yourself in Jesus, you with never lose your way, you will never forget the truth, and you will have a life that you could never have imagined.

Who will you be?
