Tim Voogd was born in Spencer, Iowa in 1961. As a “preacher’s kid”, he lived in several communities within Iowa and Minnesota during his younger years. At the age of 12, Tim trusted Jesus Christ to be his Savior and Lord following a summer camp experience. During his high school years, he enjoyed farming and raising animals. He also worked several jobs in small business and in various construction roles.
Tim and his wife Kathy were married in 1984. They struggled with infertility for eight years before God blessed them with their first child. At the age of 29, Tim returned to college at Northwestern in St. Paul, Minnesota to finish his undergraduate work in Youth Ministry, Christian Education, and Bible. After spending time managing a Christian bookstore, Tim spent five years teaching various Bible classes in a private high school in Walnut Creek, California. Sensing the call to return to a position in a local ministry, Tim went to work as a Youth Pastor. When the opportunity to become the lead pastor of a new church plant in Lathrop, California materialized, Tim and Kathy moved with their son Tyler and daughters Morriah and Micaela where they served the church for 8 years.
In January 2012, Tim and Kathy decided to move to the Lynchburg area to pursue a Master’s at Liberty University. Kathy is an employee at Liberty University working in the Student Service Center. Tyler is currently majoring in Secondary Education and playing football at Bethel University in McKenzie, Tennessee. Morriah and Micaela are homeschooled and enjoy managing their online craft business, "Mick & More Creation".
