Frank Hickson was born April 2, 1961, in Nashville, Tennessee.  At the age of eleven, he accepted the Lord at St. Luke United Presbyterian Church in Orangeburg, South Carolina.  Frank and his wife Meesha have two wonderful children: Leidra who is a 2011 graduate of the University of Virginia and Frankie who is a student at Heritage High School in Lynchburg.

Frank has twenty-six years of NAIA and NCAA football coaching experience starting at Wichita State University in Kansas where he coached under the legendary Hall of Famer Willie Jefferies. Throughout his coaching career, he has served in various coaching positions: Assistant Coach (Wichita State University, Mesa College, Marshall University, Temple University, United States Naval Academy, University of South Carolina, Oklahoma State, and Liberty University); Offensive Coordinator (University of North Texas); Head Coach (Morehouse College).  He has also served as a professor at Mesa College and Sojourner Douglas College.

Educationally, Frank graduated with honors from Tuskegee University with a bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education and Recreation.  He also holds a Master’s Degree in Athletic Administration from Wichita State University.

Frank has been an active leader and served as a speaker with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes at each of the schools he has coached.   He and his wife Meesha have made strong spiritual connections with the athletes that Frank has recruited and coached.   As a Men’s Life Skills Coordinator, it is Frank’s desire for every student he guides to grow spiritually. Whenever students meet with him, Frank draws them to the Word of God and encourages them to make the Word of God a vital part of their everyday life.
