Dane Emerick was born in 1945 in the railroad town of Altoona, Pennsylvania. At sixteen, he accepted Jesus Christ as Savior. He had a desire to serve the Lord on the mission field and yielded to the Lord’s call to ministry. He was discharged from the Navy in 1968 and through a number of financial miracles he entered college where he majored in Biblical Studies with a specialization in Christian Education.
After graduating in 1972, he returned to his hometown to serve as youth pastor at Calvary Baptist Church. While at Calvary, Dane met Joan Wagner. Joan was a member of the College and Career Sunday school class and taught second grade in the local school. They fell in love and married in 1975.
In 1976, God led them to Lynchburg, Va., so that Dane could further his education at Lynchburg Baptist Theological Seminary where he majored in Pastoral Counseling and Christian Education.
After his first semester, Dane was hired as a Resident Director for the Student Affairs department. After his first semester as a RD, he was hired as acting Dean of Men. He then became Dean of Men in 1978 and served in that position for 28 years. He now serves the student body of Liberty as a Campus Pastor. Pastor Dane has also been involved with the missions department since 1979.
Dane and his wife have four children and three grandchildren.
