What is LMSC?
Located atop Liberty University’s serene 5,000-acre mountain, the Liberty Mountain Snowflex Centre is the country’s premier point for year-round skiing, snowboarding and tubing. Composed of beginner, intermediate and advanced slopes and a two-story lodge, this high-performance playground is the first of its kind in the U.S.
The concept originated in 2005 when the university began looking at creative ways to utilize its mountain property. The solution was to build an outdoor recreational complex accessible to Liberty and the general public.
Designed by England’s Briton Engineering, the park’s sleek slopes are made with the industry’s most innovative terrain technology — Snowflex. LMSC caters to snow sport enthusiasts of all skill levels, and serves as the ideal training ground in the offseason. A funhouse for freestylers, the facility also features an elevated cornice drop, triple kickers and a colossal quarter pipe.
In October of 2013 LMSC opened two NevePlast tubing slope. A 350ft run offered speeds upward of 30MPH and groups of three, and a 500ft run offered speeds of 30MPH+, 25 seconds of sliding, and groups of three. The new run is a hige advancement in the tubing that is offered by Liberty Mountain Snowflex Centre.

What is Snowflex?
Invented by Briton Engineering’s Brian Thomas, Snowflex is a synthetic material designed to simulate the slip and grip effects of snow. The most innovative surface on the market, Snowflex has a misting system that keeps it moist, maximizing speed and edge control. Snowflex retains its shape year-round, so riders can progressively sharpen their technique on its various contours. Unlike previous terrain technologies, Snowflex has multiple layers to cushion skiers and snowboarders if they should fall.
Snowflex possesses these unique qualities:
• Slip and grip: Maximum forward speed; extra edge control for turning; realism is lost without speed and edge control
• Safety: Ultra cushioning for falls; no holes in surface layer to get caught in; no sharp edges/surface metal to cause abrasions or cuts.
• Formability: Ability to create adventurous and interesting terrain and stunt formations
• Authenticity: Creates the thrill of real snow
