CSER Course Pathing: School of Nursing

Welcome to the CSER course path for the School of Nursing. Below you can find organizations recommended by LUSON faculty uniquely suited for nursing students. For more information about these organizations or for help registering for CSER, please email cser@liberty.edu.

Freshmen & Sophomore

Nursing freshman and sophomore students are encouraged to seek out service opportunities that will prepare them for service in their profession. Students can build meaningful relationships with the elderly at long-term care facilities such as Runk & Pratt or Heritage Green Daybreak. They can also meet the needs of people all over the world through serving at World Help and Gleaning for the World, or work toward poverty alleviation with local non-profits. They also have opportunities to be involved in public health initiatives through SGA clubs and to mentor youth through sports outreach and tutoring.

Junior & Senior

The School of Nursing offers specialized CSER courses that prepare Junior and Senior students professionally through several career-oriented service projects. These courses involve peer-mentoring, elderly care, lab assistance, and classroom facilitating. Students work directly with faculty while completing CSER credits.

In addition to LUSON courses, students can also gain hands-on experience and make connections in the medical field by serving at any of the local medical facilities listed here, such as the Free Clinic of Central Virginia. LU Send trips for Nursing students are available each year as well. Finally, students can utilize Service-Learning courses to earn CSER while completing academic work toward their degree. These courses are research and reflection-based service projects and involve working directly with faculty members.
