God + nothing = everything. Such a simple concept!

My faith is in Jesus. This is the very core of my belief that moves my thoughts and actions. I recognize my ever growing desire to: reach out and touch His garment, cry out to Him during those times I am not sure I can see Him, and boldly ask for Him to test my faith by calling me out of the boat and onto the water. I am becoming acutely aware of what it means to be a sinner, to fall short and miss the mark of His call to perfect communion with Him. I am always a sinner, never righteous enough and need Jesus for every breath I take. Faith is believing in what we hope for and certain of what we have yet to see. I look at faith as an act of trust. I am so grateful that my God is so full of Grace that He will grow my faith as I walk out this plan He has set for me. He covers me when I waver and trust in my own strength, forgetting my "work"and "perfection" is not what He desires. It is in my weakness, my helpless failure that I see my faith grow. It is when I am able to die to myself, put away my measuring stick and accept His great Love and Grace that I know I am walking in faith.

I trust totally in God because He is my maker and my keeper.

I would say for me to have courage to undertake anything, firstly I should have faith that what I'm about to do will succeed and this faith should be drawn from Christ himself. Faith should be at the initial stage - without it where will be my help come from? This faith brings courage and determination and the results will be seen coupled with trust in our redeemer.

The reading tonight was great for me. I was praying earlier about how great God is to me and how when I do not think He is there He is. I asked God to help me grow more in my faith and believing in the work He can and do do in my life because I had started new business and I am trying to complete school as many people are. God makes sure things are provided for me and I have been sick and God has calmed my spirit through it all and gave me peace. The verses reminded me to have complete faith in God and rely on Him because He is always helping and thinking about us even when we do not think He is.

I really appreciate this opportunity to share with this Liberty University Online community. In regards to faith origins, faith originates from God and is delivered through different mediums, hearing, theophanies, signs and miracles, His Word and the Scriptures. I like how Timothy quotes, we live by faith and not by sight because if I have to see or feel God, my faith in Him would be non-existent.

This was so weird! I just emailed the pastoral team for prayer and used the example of Peter stepping out of the boat in the same way that I must step out of the boat and focus on Jesus as I prepare to take this next step in my life. Wow, God has a weird way of letting us know He is listening. I love reading all your posts! I love being surrounded by so many people who are faith-filled. Samantha, I know how you feel. Sometimes it feels like God isn't there. And I, too, have backslid in my faith. Remember Job from the bible? He continually asked God why all those bad things were happening to him. There is a HUGE lesson in that book. We don't have all the answers. Only Jesus does! And does that ever take a HUGE leap of faith to lean on those promises and assurances that He will not abandon us. We all, at one time or another questioned our faith. Like when we were children and we wanted to know who the Easter Bunny or Santa was. It's hard to believe in that which you can not see. We are like Thomas who did not believe it was really Jesus standing there until he put his fingers in the nail holes in Christs' hand. Unfortunately, we don't get the luxury of that kind of reassurance. BUT, if you look at the little things, you will see God at work. I have been praying for all kinds of things. And I've been getting little messages here and there that reassure me that God is, indeed, listening to me and hears my prayers. Believe that our God is bigger than our problems and bigger than our doubts. Remain faithful through your trials. He will give you what you need. God bless all of you. :)

Good morning. I really needed to read this Blog today. It was something that was well needed for my soul and my spirit. I also agree with the message of Jesus speaking to each and everyone of us about our faith. I have been going through a lot with my teenage daughter and I feel like I have exhausted all my options - so I gave it all to Him. He said He would never leave nor forsake us and I believe that everything will be ok. LORD, I TRUST YOU!

This blog "Where Faith Begins" is just what I needed today to keep me focused on Jesus and my faith in God. Sometimes, when life's difficulties surround you , you try to find a way out using your own abilities such as the woman with the issue of blood did. However, there will come a time in your Christian walk where your faith will be tried, as James 1 teaches us,and it is really a sign to grow mature and build our Christian toughness. I am encouraged by these three stories and will continue to trust in God's plan for my life and my family's life. Amen!

Samantha, I'm sorry for your struggle. I hope you feel God's presence soon. I used to have that problem. It really made me doubt whether God was real at all. What I found was that I lacked an adequate understanding of Jesus. How can I trust (have faith) in someone I do not understand? It turned out that nobody really took the time to really break down the gospel to me in a way that I understood. Therefore, the gospel had never moved me to step out in true faith. Each case is different because every person is different. I will pray for you that God prepares your heart as you continue on your journey.

Your faith is as big as your God. In other words, if you have little faith, you will see little results in your situations & circumstances. However, if you know and believe that your God is real, and that there is nothing too hard for Him, then you have a great big God. The Word of God says, "I have never seen the righteous forsaken, nor His seed begging bread." What does that mean as a whole..... God is faithful and just. Continue to know that God is in control, and that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose. Be blessed!

I'm exercising faith at this moment as my family is faced with the issue of being a step parent. I've been married for 15 years and both of us came in with a son. My husband's son was 1 1/2 and mine was 3 1/2. They are now 16 and 18 and my heart is broken because of my son's rebelliousness towards his step-dad. It could be the simple teenage stage of life, but we have never seen this before. I have decided to put my trust in the Lord and lean on His understanding. I'm like the woman with the issue of blood as I have tried all sorts of things to make this better. Now it's time to try God and believe He has the answers to my problem.

Samantha, I would suggest you not get too concerned about how you might feel from day-to-day as our feelings change based on our circumstances. What we know is God does not change His feelings toward us. He adores you. He loves you. He wants you to trust Him. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight." God bless.

I have a hard time with faith. I have always been a Christian but I have also strayed away so many times I can't count. It's odd to me now because I know I am being tested to see if I will keep my faith and relationship with God but it feels as if He isn't there to me. I know I need to have faith that He is but it's hard when I can't feel Him there supporting me.

I have found that the deeper my faith gets, the more I learn to rely on the Lord for strength. I think that faith comes in many forms and at many different times in our lives. We have faith that some engineer knew what he was doing when he built a bridge that we have to drive across. We have faith that the 20 story building was built using the right materials. Although these are human examples, they are a sign of using faith. I say "using", because the only time we need faith in the above instances is when we need to make use of those structures. Faith in God I think begins to flourish when we truly release everything to Him. Submit, as the Bible tells us. We need to be "broken", so the Lord can build us up to accomplish His purpose in us. I believe it is at these times when our faith really comes alive.

I have to put my faith and trust in God always, because if I start thinking that I can do all things on my own without God, the inevitable will occur; I will be like Peter and start sinking because I took my eyes off of God and worried about how I can manage, when in essences it is I who needs to keep Christ centered in my life, with my eyes focused on Jesus Christ, praying always, reading His Word, and being in fellowship with others who are putting their faith and trust in God always, because being around Believers who know that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us, and nothing is impossible for God, but without our Lord and Savior we are incomplete and fools without putting our faith and trust in the Lord. In 2 Corinthians 5:7 it states, "We live by faith, not by sight", it we put our faith in trust in what we see and not go to the Lord for understanding you will be a blind fool, we have to put our faith and trust in the Lord, we need to be wise in the way of a world that is out of control. To see God best at work, we need to be on our knees first, so have you been on your knees to come closer to the Lord and to find understanding of a situation or concerns? Regardless what we may think or feel, if you haven't sought the Lord out first, you will have nothing but confusion and unanswered questions. Remember that Jesus is the way, the life, and the truth, He will have all the answers to any questions or concerns. Can I get an Amen!
