Happy spring! After a long cold winter, spring is a welcome friend, bringing with it the promise of flowers, warmth, and new birth. Spring also brings Easter, the most important holiday of the Christian faith.
As the remembrance of Jesus Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection takes place on April 20, take some time to reflect on what Jesus’ sacrifice means to you. His perfect life, tragic death, and miraculous resurrection paid the price for your sins and gives you direct access to the Father. With Easter approaching, thank God for your salvation and for Jesus enduring the cross to provide eternal life to those who believe in Him.
“Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with Him. For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, He cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over Him. The death He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life He lives, He lives to God. In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.” - Romans 6:8-11
Meet Charles Fernandez, an 18-year-old senior at Liberty University Online Academy.
Fernandez lives with his family in Guatemala, where they have been serving as missionaries for 10 years. He is the oldest of three children, and is an Olympic athlete, competing in the pentathlon, which consists of running, shooting, fencing, swimming, and equestrian.
Fernandez trains five hours a day and has competed in 12 countries, and he appreciates the flexibility Liberty Online Academy offers him. Fernandez has had great teachers, and he feels privileged to be part of one of the best online programs available. Because he is earning college credit through his high school courses, at graduation he will have completed nearly one year of college as well.
In the future, Fernandez plans to study sport management and business. He plans to use his experience as an Olympian to work with large athletic organizations around the world.
