Moving On and Moving In
Congratulations to those at Liberty University Online Academy who have accepted new positions. Our founding superintendent, Harvey Klamm, has accepted a position at Liberty University’s School of Education. He will be working with student teachers and their supervisors, as well as teaching classes.
Moving into the position of superintendent is our former director of operations, Kelly Bingham. She is spearheading the changes in our curriculum and assuming all other responsibilities as superintendent.
Heidi Dalton, former lead academic advisor and tenth grade student advisor, will be our new director of operations. It is exciting to see how God is working here at Liberty Online Academy. Congratulations to all!
A New Thing
“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” – Isaiah 43:19
What an encouraging verse to read as spring begins to unfold! After a long winter, the new beginnings of spring are refreshing and energizing. Whether you’ve had a long semester of studying and classes, or you are just ready for the next season to start, God is already there. He promises to revive the dead things in the wilderness and offer refreshment in the wasteland.
Often, though, we get caught up in final exams and graduation ceremonies and in the general busyness of the season — it’s easy to miss the miracle of new life growing up around us. But, God is doing a new thing, inside us and all around us, and He encourages us through Isaiah not to miss it! His promises are true and His life is reviving.
This spring, take time to stop and recognize the new thing that God is doing all around you. It’s springing up — are you ready to see?
Rachel Rocco teaches history for Liberty University Online Academy, and loves it! She has been married to her husband, Chris, for two years. They have a one-year-old son, Mitchell, and one on the way in September! Rachel earned her B.S. in Social Science from Liberty University in 2010.
Rachel began working as an academic advisor for Liberty Online Academy in 2011, but after a few months the Roccos found out they were going to be parents and decided that Rachel should be at home. What a blessing it is for her to stay home with Mitchell and still get to teach history!
In her free time, Rachel enjoys being outdoors, hiking on trails, and running. She also appreciates learning about other cultures, meeting new people, and reading stories like Tolkien’s "Lord of the Rings".
Rachel’s favorite verse, 2 Corinthians 4:7 says, “But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us.”
You Ask, We Answer
Q: If I'm struggling in courses (such as math or English) and looking for additional help to understand the material, where should I go?
A: A lot of our students ask this question and are unaware that they can call us here in the office at any time Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. for additional help with the curriculum. We have highly trained teachers in the office who can help our students throughout the day. Just give us a call at (866) 418-8741 and ask for your advisor!

Steven Vaughn, Senior
Stephen Vaughn lives in Pennsylvania with his family: parents, Todd and Beth, and sister and brother-in-law, Erin and Nick. Their boxer, Brindy, is also an important part of the family. Stephen’s family has moved frequently, teaching him the importance of family and of being there for one another.
When Stephen is not working on his classes, he enjoys playing basketball and other sports. He also spends time in God’s Word daily. One of his favorite activities is spending time with friends and family. Stephen stays active in his church, Faith Community, by attending regularly and teaching a middle school youth group on Sundays. Stephen rounds out his extracurricular hours with a part-time job at Avis Rentals, where he details cars.
Stephen became a student at Liberty Online Academy this past year after hearing about the opportunity while attending his brother-in-law’s graduation from Liberty University. Because of his busy schedule and traveling, he enjoys being able to work at his own pace and having the flexibility to work when and where he wants.
Stephen has already been accepted into the Aeronautics program at Liberty University. He plans on getting his FAA license to fix aircrafts from Liberty’s Aircraft Maintenance Training program, and completing his undergraduate degree from the Liberty University School of Business. Stephen believes this will make him more versatile in the aviation field. Open to wherever God leads, Stephen would like to continue his education by receiving a graduate degree from Liberty University Baptist Theological Seminary. Through all of his schooling, Stephen is hopeful that he will be led into some form of full-time ministry.
