News & Events Special ceremony honors Liberty's military graduates May 9, 2014 : By Ted Allen/Liberty University News Service Out of the nearly 17,500 graduates to be honored at Liberty University's 41st Commencement on Saturday, over 5,000 — nearly 30 percent — are active, reserve, or retired military.

Baccalaureate speaker Eric Metaxas fortifies graduates to follow Jesus

From the opening invocation to the closing benediction, the show was stolen from the stage at Liberty University’s annual Baccalaureate service as all were urged to turn to their focus to Jesus. The evening began with a grand processional of Liberty’s faculty and graduates and their families, who were then confronted with a simple charge from keynote speaker Eric Metaxas: “Follow Jesus.”

Falwell, Jindal to preside over Commencement; 34,000 guests expected

Liberty University is preparing to welcome an estimated crowd of 34,000 at its 41st Commencement ceremony, scheduled for 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 10, at Williams Stadium. Liberty will honor close to 17,500 graduates from its residential and online programs; close to 6,200 will be participating in the Commencement exercises.
