February 06, 2013  |  Liberty University News Service

Construction workers are bustling about the site of Liberty University’s new baseball stadium, which is on schedule to accommodate fans for the Flames’ home opener against Penn State on Feb. 22.

Roofing and bricklaying has begun and is progressing rapidly. Turf is being laid on the playing field and seats are going to be installed soon. The stadium will have 2,500 chairback seats and include luxury boxes and a state-of-the-art press area. A new video scoreboard has been positioned overlooking the playing field.

The stadium will be top-notch, with the latest amenities to rival any collegiate stadium in the country, said Jeff Barber, Flames director of athletics. The design of the stadium has been influenced by several stadiums Barber has visited over the years, including those at the University of Virginia and the University of South Carolina.
