When completing the FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov, use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool if you are given the option to do so.  This will save you up to eight weeks in processing time if you are selected by the U.S. Department of Education for the Verification process.  Use your Federal PIN to electronically sign the FAFSA (www.pin.ed.gov).  Add Liberty’s school code – 010392.

Step 2. Apply for grants and scholarships

Apply for the Virginia Tuition Assistance Grant, search and apply for outside scholarships, check for eligibility for the Federal Work Study program, and find out if Corporate Tuition Assistance is available.

Step 3. Submit required documents

Go to ASIST and submit any required documents listed for your account.  If your account was selected for Verification, this review must be completed before any federal or institutional aid will be processed.  If you could use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool and elected not to use it, go back to www.fafsa.ed.gov and update your account.  If you are not eligible to use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool, submit all required documents to the Financial Aid Office.

Step 4. Apply for loans

All students are encouraged to only borrow what is necessary to pay for direct education expenses.  If federal loans are how this need will be met, complete the Entrance Counseling and electronic Master Promissory Note at www.studentloans.gov.  If the maximum amount is not needed, complete the Federal Direct Student Loan Change Form in ASIST by following the steps outlined at www.liberty.edu/faforms.

Step 5. Check your financial aid awards

Go to www.liberty.edu/asist and check your financial aid awards.  If an adjustment needs to be made, contact the Financial Aid Office at financialaid@liberty.edu, call (888) 583-5704, or chat with us online at www.liberty.edu/financialaid

Step 6. Complete Financial Check-In

To confirm your financial aid awards and secure your schedule, complete Financial Check-In in ASIST.  If you need assistance with this process, please contact the Student Accounts Office at luostudentaccounts@liberty.edu or call (888) 632-5551.
