Admission Requirements

The admission requirements listed below apply to the following all graduate certificate programs in the following schools:

  • School of Behavioral Sciences
  • School of Business
  • School of Communication & Digital Content
  • School of Divinity
  • School of Education
  • Helms School of Government
  • School of Health Sciences
  • School of Music

  1. Apply online or download an application for admission and submit it via mail.

  2. A $40.00, non-refundable, application fee will be assessed at time of application (waived for service members and veterans).

  3. Mail official college transcripts (sealed, unopened copy) indicating a regionally or nationally accredited bachelor’s degree. We can assist you in requesting these items if you submit a transcript request form.

  4. For admission in good standing, you must possess a regionally or nationally accredited bachelor’s degree with

    A GPA of at least 2.0 is required by the following graduate certificates:

    Autism Education
    Criminal Justice
    Educational Technology and Online Instruction
    Gifted Education
    Management and Leadership
    Marketing
    Middle Grades
     

    Pastoral Counseling
    Preschool
    Public Administration
    Public Policy
    School Leadership
    Worship Studies

    A GPA of at least 2.25 is required by the following graduate certificates:

    Military Resilience
    Applied Communication Studies

    Communications & Business Administration

     

    A GPA of at least 2.5 is required by the following graduate certificates:

    Communications and Human Services
    General Business
    Global Health
    Health Promotion

    Healthcare Management
    Nutrition
    Organizational Communication
    Outdoor Adventure Sport
    Sport Management

  5. Applicants whose native language is not English must take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), or an approved alternate test of English proficiency: International English Language Testing System (IELTS), or the International Test of English Proficiency (iTEP). Applicants must earn a score of 80 on the Internet-based TOEFL, a 3.9 on the iTEP, a 6.5 on the IELTS, or an equivalent score on an approved alternate test for all graduate degree programs.  Applicants who have an earned degree from a college or university in the U.S. or other English-speaking country or school may have the TOEFL requirement waived by the Office of Graduate Admissions. Alternatively, applicants who successfully complete the levels of English-Second-Language (ESL) instruction indicated below at one of two schools will have the TOEFL requirement waived.  Students will have their application held until transcripts from one of the below schools are received.

Dual Enrollment

If you plan to dual enroll in both a bachelor’s degree and a graduate certificate program, you must:

  • Contact the Registrar’s Office to obtain a dual enrollment application.
  • Complete and submit an application for admission.
     

As a non-Liberty undergraduate student, in addition to completing and submitting an application for admission, you must:

  • Contact and speak with our Registrar directly.
  • Have your current university’s registrar send Liberty’s Registrar’s Office an official letter to confirm that you are in the last nine hours of your undergraduate degree program.

Official College Transcript Policy

An acceptable official college transcript must be issued directly from the institution in a sealed envelope with a signature across the back.
