Liberty announces 2013 football television schedule

Liberty University recently announced its 2013 football television schedule.

The schedule features six games on the new Liberty Flames Sports Network, along with four ESPN3 broadcasts, and one by Cox Communications.

The new Liberty Flames Sports Network (LFSN) will cover six of Liberty’s seven home games, while the remaining home game (Oct. 19 vs. Coastal Carolina) will be broadcast as an ESPN3 exclusive broadcast through the Big South Conference.

Flames Nation can follow Liberty athletics on the Liberty Channel (WTLU), the flagship television station of the Liberty Flames Sports Network. LFSN airs Liberty football, men’s and women’s basketball, and baseball games, as well as Liberty volleyball matches. The Liberty Channel can be viewed in the greater Lynchburg area on most cable systems.

Liberty Athletics will also be broadcast over the air on WRTN RTV, the digital broadcast channel 13.2 programmed by the local ABC Network Affiliate WSET. The Mid-Atlantic Sports Network (MASN) also broadcast Liberty Football, representing 15 million additional households in the mid-Atlantic region to give Liberty Athletics one of the top FCS television networks in the country.

Additionally, LFSN broadcasts have also been aired in the past year on ESPN3, CTN-Florida, JCTV, and WFMZ (Philadelphia, Pa.).

LFSN, with the assistance of Newton Media, is set to officially launch in September. The new national TV and radio network will feature live football, basketball, and baseball games, as well as other sporting events on a tape-delayed basis. LFSN will also air a 30-minute daily program featuring news and highlights from Liberty and other universities across the country. It is being offered to broadcast stations in every market, to regional cable networks, and to national satellite platforms. Several stations across the U.S. have already committed to carrying LFSN, reaching millions of television households on Saturdays during the 2013-2014 academic year.
